Courses offered at Indian Institute Forest Management

IIFM has got a campus area of 200 acres and the institute first began its operations at Bhopal in 1982. IIFM is affiliated with Ministry of Environment & forests. They offer 2 major courses for their students. They are:
a) Post Graduate Diploma in Forest Management (PFM) – The admissions for PFM are carried out through CAT which is conducted by IIM. Those who clear this test will have a round of interviews and group discussions and only than then the final selected candidates are announced. Candidates can specialize in 3 major courses such as Conversation & livelihood (C&L), Environmental Management (EM), Developmental Management (DM).
b) Fellow Program in Management (FPM) – FPM is a doctorate program mainly designed to equip students who are planning a career in Forest management including research in any of the following areas of specialization such as Communication & Extension Management, Ecosystem & Environment Economics, Financial Management, Human Resources, Information Technology & Quantitative Techniques, Marketing Management etc.
The fees are decided by the management from time to time. The institute provides an excellent Air condition library having many stories having more than 37,000 research books, more than 300 movie collections based on the forest world, CD’s and DVD’s to view forest related programs.
The student’s hostel consists of 80 rooms with a separate block built for girl students. The rooms are all well equipped with LAN connections to help them in their research work online. A large cafeteria which can accommodate more than 300 students adds up to the ambience of the institute.
IIFM also has a sports and recreation centre with both indoor and outdoor games such as Lawn Tennis, Badminton, Table Tennis, Football, Cricket, Volleyball and Carrom.
